The Ripple Effect of the Great Outdoors: Finding the Good with Challenge the Outdoors

In Northeast Wisconsin, the outdoors are more than a destination — they are a source of healing, connection, and freedom. For many individuals living with physical disabilities, however, access to hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation can often feel out of reach. That is where Challenge the Outdoors steps in with purpose, passion, and heart.

Based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Challenge the Outdoors is dedicated to empowering disabled sportspersons and their families by creating opportunities to experience the beauty and excitement of nature. Through adaptive outdoor programs, supportive volunteers, and community partnerships, the organization helps participants rediscover adventure, independence, and joy in the great outdoors of Northeast Wisconsin.

Be the good. See the good. Share the good.

At the core of Challenge the Outdoors is a simple yet powerful philosophy. It is more than a slogan. It is a way of life that reflects the organization's commitment to intentional kindness, encouragement, and the belief that goodness creates a ripple effect capable of changing lives.

Every event organized by Challenge the Outdoors demonstrates that spirit in action. Whether it is a young angler casting a line for the first time, a veteran returning to a deer blind after injury, or a family spending meaningful time together on the water, each experience becomes a reminder that limitations do not define potential.

Be the Good

The organization understands that outdoor recreation is not just about sport. It is about confidence. It is about inclusion. It is about restoring a sense of possibility. Volunteers, sponsors, and supporters embody the "be the good" mindset by donating their time, equipment, knowledge, and compassion. Adaptive gear, accessible hunting setups, fishing outings, and recreational events are all designed to remove barriers and replace them with opportunity. In doing so, Challenge the Outdoors creates an environment where participants feel welcomed, valued, and empowered.

See the Good

The second part of the mantra reflects the organization's emphasis on positive psychology and perspective. Participants are encouraged to focus on strengths rather than obstacles, possibilities rather than limitations. Time spent outdoors has long been associated with improved mental well-being, reduced stress, and stronger emotional resilience. Challenge the Outdoors builds on those benefits by creating uplifting experiences centered around accomplishment, connection, and shared community.

For families, these moments become lasting memories. Parents watch their children discover confidence. Friends reconnect through shared adventures. Caregivers see loved ones light up with excitement and pride. The outdoors become a place where challenges fade into the background and hope takes center stage.

Share the Good

Finally, the organization lives out the belief to share the good. Every act of kindness inspires another. Every successful event encourages more community involvement. Every participant story becomes a testimony to the power of inclusion and compassion.

That ripple effect extends throughout Northeast Wisconsin. Local businesses, volunteers, donors, and outdoor enthusiasts unite around a common mission: ensuring everyone has the chance to experience the thrill and peace of nature regardless of physical ability.

In a world often focused on what divides people, Challenge the Outdoors reminds communities what can happen when people come together with empathy, generosity, and purpose.

By opening doors to outdoor adventure, the organization is doing more than creating recreational opportunities. It is building confidence, strengthening families, inspiring communities, and proving that kindness — when shared intentionally — can travel far beyond a single moment.

Challenge the Outdoors continues to show that the outdoors belong to everyone. And through every fishing trip, hunting experience, smile, and success story, the organization is helping Northeast Wisconsin live out a powerful truth:

Be the good. See the good. Share the good.
