Who They Serve

Disabled sportspersons across Wisconsin (and welcomed from anywhere) — along with the friends, family, and volunteers who come along for the ride.

The Story

Challenge The Outdoors started in 1998 around a simple idea: a disability shouldn't be the end of a life spent outside. For a hunter, an angler, a kid who grew up in a tree stand — losing access to those places is losing a piece of yourself.

What began with a handful of volunteers organizing fishing trips has grown into a year-round program of hunts, outings, and a dedicated accessible pond off Highway 29 between Green Bay and Shawano. Peter's Pond is the kind of place where the parking lot, the dock, the path to the water — all of it — was designed so nobody has to ask for help to participate.

It runs on volunteers, donated boats, donated time, and a stubborn belief that the outdoors belongs to everyone.
